Women’s Guild – 125 Years Old

Bothwell Parish Church Women’s Guild

This year the Guild is 125 years old and to mark this event Councilor Henry Mitchell approached South Lanarkshire Council who kindly agreed to hold a Civic Reception to mark the occasion.

The Reception was held on Thursday 25th March 2011 and hosted by Provost Cleary.

The evening commenced at 7.15pm with a drink and the cutting of a cake baked by Mrs Joan Henry and decorated by Mrs M Watt with the Guild Badge.  The cake was cut by Guild Presidents Mrs Sheena Cook and Mrs Louise McLean.

Rev Gibson said Grace and the buffet meal was then served and enjoyed by everyone.

After the meal was finished the Provost gave a short speech on the origins of the Guild and then presented Mrs Sheena Cook with a beautiful crystal rosebowl to commemorate the occasion of the Guild being in existance for 125 years.

Mrs Nancy Robertson, our third president, gave a vote of thanks to Provost Cleary and other individuals who had helped to make it a most memorable evening.
