Lord Lieutenant Mushtaq Ahmad and Provost Russell  and Mrs Clearie  attended a special Civic Service held within the Church on September 18^th.  Taking part in the service conducted by the Minister, the Revd Jim Gibson were the Very Revd, Dr Gilleasbuig Macmillan, CVO Minister of St Giles’ Cathedral Edinburgh and Dean of the Order of the Thistle and the actress Eileen McCallum.  An offering taken afterwards was donated to the Eileen McCallum Trust for sufferes of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in Scotland.
