The Organist – Mr Phil Hotham.
As a boy Phil was a chorister at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster. After studying piano, organ and composition he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music. Following his post graduation training, he became a Director of Music in Surrey while being Organist at the deanery church of Christchurch in Woking. After moving to Manchester as Music Adviser and leader of instrumental and choral development, Phil moved into school Headship before, eventually, retirement beckoned. Throughout his career, Phil has always maintained involvement as a church musician: playing, conducting, singing and organising. Since residing in Scotland, Phil has enjoyed participating at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Glasgow. Phil also works with the Royal School of Church Music ‘Scottish Voices’ choir.
The Church Choir – The Church choir is made up of a talented group of people who very much enjoy singing.
Rehearsals take place on Sunday mornings at 9.30 am.
For the greater part of the year the choir leads the singing of the hymns during the Sunday service and also contributes an introit and anthem. The repertoire is varied and includes music from the 16th century to the present day. The organist has arranged and composed music especially for the choir.
We are always delighted to welcome new members and anyone who is interested is invited to meet the organist after the morning service.
